When I started this blog, I was a couple of months into my year-long maternity leave (hence the name, "Nicole at Home").  I've since returned to teaching, so my time spent at home is more limited, but now I have a work-appropriate wardrobe to create!  

I've been sewing since I could hold a needle (about 30 years now...yikes!), but have been reinvigorated recently by having kids and tiny things to make.  Baking, cooking, knitting and gardening are my other favorite things, so they may show up on this blog now and then, too.  In my professional life, I teach biology at a local community college, with a focus on plant biotechnology.  But while once my feed reader was filled with science and biology websites, they have been crowded out by craft and sewing blogs.  

This is my sewing space, a corner of the guest bedroom/office.  My main machine is a Babylock (model "Grace") and I have a Singer Professional 5 serger.  Not a huge fan of my serger, but can't quite swing an air-thread machine yet!
